Yahoo has launched the version 3.0 of its IntoNow which will enable people to capture, communicate and discover television content in more engaging way.

IntoNow 3.0 will offer users new way to share moments on TV, learn about what they’re watching and engage with friends, social networks and the IntoNow community.

The new release has been rebuilt and re-designed around three new features: TV and Music Sync, CapIt and Group Chat.

TV sync feature will assess what people are watching to dig out the relevant content, including personalities, sports teams, songs, polls, or trivia playing on TV.

Music Sync is a technology that automatically identifies the song playing during a show, which can then be purchased through iTunes in one click or the user can view the music video on YouTube.

CapIt is an iOS app that synchronises and delivers still images of the programme that is shown on TV. With the tap of a button, people can now select the image they want, add a caption and share with friends on Facebook, Twitter or IntoNow, yahoo said.

The Group Chat feature will help user create private conversations with friends within the IntoNow app.

IntoNow 3.0 uses SoundPrint technology to automatically identify live or previously aired television content spanning more than 2.7 million airings.

Yahoo Product vice president and IntoNow founder Adam Cahan said iOS devices are pervasive in its living rooms, and second screen behavior is now commonplace.

"IntoNow wanted to up the ante and give people a whole new experience," Cahan said. "We’re the first to offer some major technological innovations – like the ability to capture and share moments that happened seconds ago on TV or automatically identify songs playing in the background – all of which gives people watching TV with IntoNow 3.0 a unique, interactive experience."
