Yahoo has bought Israel-based online video streaming company, RayV, for an undisclosed sum, ending months of speculation.

Launched in 2005, RayV develops software to stream HD videos through mobile devices.

The streaming company has built a video distribution platform, which helps content creators distribute their work more easily, and provides an enhanced viewing experience for the audience.

RayV said: "We have built a full end-to-end solution that enables improved high quality streaming for our online and mobile video content partners, delivering a robust video experience to our customers."

According to RayV’s blog post, the team will join Yahoo’s Cloud Platforms and Services Team.

Yahoo’s VP of Cloud Platforms and Services, P.P.S.Narayan, said that the deal is a part of Yahoo’s attempt to boost its present video strategy and technology in the same field.

"At Yahoo, we are focused on building a video offering that delivers best-in-class quality and content, and can be streamed on-demand and live, on all platforms," Narayan said.

"RayV has built a compelling technology that enables improved high quality streaming for online and mobile content partners."
