According to data from app analytics provider App Annie, Brits are looking to find love and remain in shape this summer.
According to its June 2014 UK Apps & Games Index, smartphone users in the UK are downloading more fitness, dating and news apps as they gear up for the summer break.
App Annie EVP of Marketing Oliver Lo said: "The June UK Index tells us that Brits are certainly enjoying themselves this summer."
"Finding love and getting in shape were both big themes for June, and we saw a huge jump in broadcast news apps around the World Cup.
"Improved network connections and apps with rich, on-demand content are allowing Brits to take fun everywhere and enjoy it as they please."
In the app download ranking, the 30 Day Ab Challenge app developed by Jozic climbed 74 places in the UK iOS rankings and remained the top 30 app in the UK ranking during June.
App Annie also added that the summer break proving to be a ‘Summer of Love,’ with dating apps like Match.com, Zoosk and Badoo ranked in Top 10 in the UK iOS ranking.
Media apps are also proving to be top grossing apps outside games in June with news apps like, The Guardian, The Times and The Telegraph ranked among Top 10 iOS apps.
The Guardian app recorded 300,000 new downloads when it released and the latest version has recorded 24% increase in revenue from digital platforms.
Among the security apps in the Google Play, Antivirus Security and Norton Mobile Security continue to be top grossing apps in the UK Top 10 Google Play apps by monthly revenue.
Among the music apps, Spotify remained at the top of the chart in Google Play during June following an Android release of the app.
Kim Kardashian‘s game app also climbed to the top ranking in Google Play following its launch in June.
The World Cup gave a boost to the ranking of broadcast news apps with ITV Player app rising to the Top 10 apps on Google Play and iOS in terms of downloads from mid-June onward.
