VMware Q3 revenue up 46% to $714m

Expects Q4 revenues to be between $790 and $810m

VMware has reported revenue of $714m in the third quarter of 2010, up 46% as compared to $490m in the same period last year.

The company has posted an operating income of $94m as compared to $23.2m in the same period a year ago.

Net income was $84.6m, or $0.20 per diluted share as compared to $38.2m, or $0.09 per diluted share, in the same period last year.

Geographically, US revenue increased 47% to $362m and international revenue grew 44% to $352m as compared to Q3 FY09.

Services revenue, which include software maintenance and professional services, were $371m, an increase of 49% during the third quarter of 2010.

The company expects fourth quarter revenues to range between $790 and $810m.
