VMware rolled out partnerships in hardware and software at its US VMware conference.
It forayed into hardware market with the launch of a new computer packed with an array of VMware programmes which will be promoted by partners including Dell, EMC and Fujitsu.
VMware also revealed plans to issue a version of OpenStack and software offering features of a technology dubbed ‘containers’ which are used to develop and install business software
It also joined with Docker, Google and Pivotal to assist enterprises in operating and managing container-based applications in on a common VMware platform in private, public and hybrid clouds.
The venture will enable developers and operations staff to deploy the Docker Engine with the VMware vSphere hypervisor and its vCloud Air hybrid service.
VMware chief technology officer Ben Fathi said: "With Docker, Google and Pivotal, we will simplify the way enterprises develop, run and manage all application types on a common platform at scale.
"In this way, Docker containers and virtual machines will provide an IT environment without compromise.

Docker chief executive officer Ben Golub said: "Organisations are rapidly adopting the Docker platform because it allows them to ship apps faster, whether to bare metal, virtualised data centre, or public cloud infrastructures.
"For enterprises seeking to efficiently build, ship, and run enterprise apps, Docker and VMware can deliver the best of both worlds for developers and IT/operations teams.
"Joint customers will benefit from enabling IT to run and operationalize their Docker environments on their current virtual infrastructure and take advantage of existing management, compliance, networking and security processes and tools."
Google will work with VMware on launching the pod based networking model of Open vSwitch to allow multi-cloud integration of the search major’s open source container cluster manager ‘Kubernetes’.
Google Cloud Platform VP Engineering Joerg Heilig said: "Kubernetes has gathered broad support as a way to bring Google-style dynamic container management to a multi-cloud world.
"Today we are very pleased to welcome VMware to the community. Not only will deep integration with the VMware product line bring the benefits of Kubernetes to enterprise customers, but their commitment to invest in the core open source platform will benefit users running containers.
"Together, our work will bring VMware and Google Cloud Platform closer together as container based technologies become mainstream."
Further, VMware will work with Pivotal to enhance the Docker libcontainer project by bringing in capabilities from VMware’s Warden project.
