VMware, a provider of virtualisation and cloud infrastructure services, has said that it will provide the enterprise hybrid cloud service with the availability of its vCloud Datacentre services from BlueLock and Colt and beta services available from Verizon.

VMware has also introduced vCloud Connector, a free plug-in that allows all vSphere administrators to deploy and manage virtual machines (VMs) across the company’s vCloud Powered cloud services from within the vSphere Client.

The vCloud Datacentre services combine the agility of the public cloud with the security, performance and application portability that enterprises demand, said the company.

The vCloud Datacentre services are built on secure cloud infrastructure, including VMware vSphere, vCloud Director and vShield. This is expected to provide globally consistent cloud infrastructure, management and security for enterprise customers to move computing workloads from internal virtualised infrastructure to any VMware vCloud Datacentre service and back.

Further, the company said that its vCloud Connector will give vSphere administrators a single pane of glass across vSphere infrastructure and vCloud Powered public and private clouds.

This enables users to enter their cloud credentials and can start viewing and transferring VMs, vApps, and templates between the three, the company said.

VMware cloud services senior director Mathew Lodge said enterprise IT organisations have been stymied by an inability to get the required performance, security and application portability from commodity public clouds.

"With vCloud Datacentre Services and vCloud Connector, VMware and its partners provide an evolutionary path to an IT revolution for millions of existing datacentre applications," Lodge said.
