Vision Solutions, a provider of information availability software and services, has launched updated versions of Double-Take Move, RecoverNow and Availability products.

The new offerings support virtualised IT environments and provide easier installation of disaster recovery offerings for virtual machines.

The Double-Take Availability 5.3 provides the ability to configure the protection of VMs in aggregate without the need to pre-install software on each virtual machine (VM).

In addition, the offering allows the administrator to configure protection of VMs at the host level and all the required functionality and agent software is automatically injected into the VM in the background as protection for the VM is configured and started.

The company said the offerings improved protection for virtual clusters — for remote availability of workloads based on Microsoft Hyper-V, supports protection of clustered Hyper-V hosts over wide area networks.

Further, the integration of Hyper-V clustering and Double-Take real-time replication of data provides unified local availability and remote availability for Hyper-V hosts.

Vision Solutions said that the Double-Take Availability 5.3 now supports protection of Exchange 2010 in Database Availability Group (DAG) environments. The feature allows organisations that want to implement disaster recovery for DAG installations across low-bandwidth environments, the company said.

The Double-Take 5.3 also supports Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 across the Availability, RecoverNow and Move products.
