Hosted IT services provider Virtuon has expanded its International Virtual Node (IVN) network to France and Belgium through a partnership with SQLTechnologies (SQLT).

SQLT will host Virtuon’s vPresence, a hosted virtual desktop service based on cloud computing and virtualisation technology, from its Douai, France data centre. The SQLT hosted service is scheduled to be operational in September 2011.

Virtuon’s Master Node in Phoenix, Arizona coordinates delivery of virtual desktop services for global partners such as SQLT.

The partnership between Virtuon and SQLT delivers a high performance virtual desktop solution offering improved management, security, business continuity and cost reduction for organisations.

Virtuon CEO Forrest Blair said SQLT’s ability to take vPresence to this portion of a growing international market is timely and it shares their vision of the power and value proposition of on-demand services.

SQLTechnologies founder and CEO Ahmed Omari said the vPresence platform is a perfect fit for the service set they are assembling for customers and the marketplace.

The VMware powered service brings full functionality of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and Office tools to computing devices with access to the internet.

Along with traditional personal computers and laptops, the service supports the array of Apple and Android-based tablets and phones.
