A survey conducted at IT infrastructure event IP EXPO 2010 has reported that majority of the respondents look at virtualisation and data security as the top areas of focus for end 2010 and throughout 2011.
The survey was completed by 257 IP EXPO’s top attendees, which include key players and decision makers in management, IT strategy, implementation and infrastructures.
Of those surveyed present at the event, 88% rated data security as a key objective and spending priority for the coming year.
This was closely followed by virtualisation which was identified as a priority among 85.8% of respondents.
The survey reported that 57% of those quizzed believe the roll-out of virtualisation and cloud based technologies will need to wait until security guarantees can be demonstrated.
Only 3% of respondents believe that security issues will entirely stop their business from adopting virtualisation.
IP EXPO 2010 survey reported that 80% of respondents believe that virtualisation will require a revision of enterprise security tools and procedures, but 81% believe that as a result virtualisation could in fact offer the opportunity to improve their business’s overall data security.
