A total of 443,000 users sent millions of tweets, emails and Facebook posts on the London Underground during the Olympic Games.
August 1st was the busiest day for the Underground Wi-Fi service as passengers accessed the service to check on Team GB wins by Bradley Wiggins, Heather Stanning and Helen Glover.
The busiest Wi-Fi enabled stations were Olympic venues and central locations which included Stratford, North Greenwich, Covent Garden, Canning Town, West Ham and Waterloo.
"Wi-Fi at Tube stations helped keep everyone moving and entertained throughout the Games with up-to-the-minute travel information and journey planners at their fingertips. It’s proving to be a great service and we expect it to be very popular during the Paralympics too," said Gareth Powell, London’s underground director of strategy and service development.
After the Paralympics the Wi-Fi portal that gives TfL travel updates, along with London news and entertainment will remain free for all Tube passengers. However, only Virgin Media broadband and mobile subscribers will be able to have full Wi-Fi access.
Wi-Fi is currently available in 72 London underground stations and will be available in 120 stations by the end of the year
