Luxury smartphone maker Vertu will offer Kaspersky security to its Android smartphone users.

All Vertu’s Android device customers will be provided with 12 months complementary access to Kaspersky security software for the OS.

Vertu chief executive officer Massimiliano Pogniliani said: "Our customers should be free to use their Vertu without security concerns, hence we required a partner that could provide them with an industry leading solution for protection against all types of attack, including anti-theft and anti-malware."

Available for download from the luxury mobile phone retailer’s website, the security app comes with features such as anti-malware protection, web protection, anti-theft protection, privacy protection and call and text filter.

Kaspersky claims the latest offering will protect Vertu devices and the information stored on them against theft, loss, computer viruses and real-time internet threats.

Kaspersky CTO Nikolay Grebennikov said the news heralds a new stage of co-operation with mobile phone manufacturers.

"Everyone should be able to get the most from their technology – without intrusion or other security worries," Grebennikov added.
