VeriSign Enterprise Security Services has launched its web application firewall management service, enabled through a strategic agreement with Imperva, a provider of application and database security technology.

VeriSign said that the service enables it to provide customers worldwide with a premium service that includes deployment, management and monitoring of the SecureSphere web application firewall.

Support for the Imperva SecureSphere web application firewall makes VeriSign Managed Security Services the first managed security service provider (MSSP) to deliver this technology as a managed service, noted VeriSign.

VeriSign is developing support of the SecureSphere database security and audit services to complement the VeriSign web application firewall management service. The addition of database support is expected to provide its analysts with key data sets that will play a significant role in assessing the full path of a threat, said VeriSign. This service enhancement will also assist organizations in meeting compliance with regulations such as SOX, HIPAA, GLBA, PCI and NERC.

Chris Cesio, vice president of worldwide channel and MSSP sales at Imperva, said: We are pleased to be working with VeriSign to extend the reach and value of our web application firewall and database security technology. Enabling their leading managed security service platform to support SecureSphere will help resource-constrained IT departments to maintain compliance and optimize performance for securing critical data through web applications.
