VASCO Data Security International, a software security company developing authentication products, has launched DIGIPASS 920, a USB connected card reader with What You See Is What You Sign (WYSIWYS) and reader signature capability, and smart card PIN protection.
DIGIPASS 920 is designed for banks which seek to protect high value transactions, secured by the reader signature capability that secures the transaction both on the end-user and the bank side.
The new card reader features Read signature with which users can verify if a transaction is approved and signed by its users with a genuine card reader.
It also provides security guarantees on both sides of the transaction, i.e, end-user can trust the data be digitally signs since they are displayed in the secure environment of a trusted reader.
DIGIPASS also features a 4-line dot matrix display enabling data field validation on the screen of the reader. The display allows logo display and Asian character sets.
The data which need to be signed are displayed on the DIGIPASS 920 screen because of its WYSIWYS feature, where a cardholder can verify them on the reader screen before confirming the transaction, the company said.
The new product also comes with secure initialisation and firmware update, Smart card PIN protection.
DIGIPASS 920 uses a standard driver compliant with all operating systems such as Windows, Linux and MacOS. It leverages the available CCID driver requiring no installation of a separate driver on most of the PC platforms.
DIGIPASS 920 supports several applications, including VASCO’s PKI based DIGIPASS CertiID, EMV-CAP in connected mode, BankID, eID and any other application using a PC/SC compliant reader.
VASCO Data Security president and COO Jan Valcke said DIGIPASS 920 is ideal for corporate and retail banking and e-government applications.
