VanDyke Software has released SecureCRT 6.5 and SecureFX, which focus on increasing productivity and usability with new UI improvements and streamlined processes.

The company said that the user interface updates in SecureFX 6.5 include a new tabbed main window with layout options. Other updates include SCP support and a parent folder icon for better navigation.

According to VanDyke, the SecureCRT 6.5 interface is improved with new tab status indicator options, a new button bar, and real-time keyword highlighting. Both SecureCRT 6.5 and SecureFX 6.5 provide new UI themes, with native support for Amazon EC2 authentication.

The company said that the product is suitable for IT professionals who need security, session management and remote access. It combines a terminal emulator with the security of the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol. SecureFX, a file transfer application, supports SFTP, FTP over SSL, SCP and standard FTP.

In addition, the company also offers the VShell Secure Shell server, which replaces Telnet and FTP for network administration and end-user access on Windows and UNIX platforms. The ClientPack combines a set of command-line utilities for automating routine file transfer, shell and public-key administration tasks on Windows, Linux and Unix.

Maureen Jett, product director at VanDyke Software, said: In this release we focused on giving users an updated interface, as well as on improving core functionality. We’ve also emphasised compatibility for Windows 7 customers, like support for program previews and pinned icons on the taskbar.
