The US Department of Veterans Affairs has licensed PC Power Management software from 1E, a provider of windows management software and services.
The deal is expected to ensure costs savings throughout the organization and will reduce its carbon footprint, said 1E.
The company said that the Power and Patch Management Pack from 1E consists of two parts, 1E NightWatchman and 1E WakeUp. Already installed across three million PCs globally, NightWatchman enhances the power management capabilities of a customer’s computer by providing shutdowns with the ability to save opened files; and combines this with a scheduling system in a single package.
According to the company, the deployment of NightWatchman is expected to be a significant tool in Veterans Affairs’s (VA) overall power management system. It will help VA to implement the Executive Order 13423 electronics stewardship power management goal for computers and monitors and provide a mechanism to track progress. It will also help VA achieve the energy efficiency requirements set in the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
