The US Justice Department is currently investigating IBM over corruption allegations in Poland, Argentina, Bangladesh and Ukraine, adding to bribery claims from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The probe is to find whether the company violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the US Justice Department is focusing on the company’s transaction in Poland that the Polish Central Anti-Corruption Bureau had been investigating.

IBM’s Poland transaction involves allegations of an ex-IBM employee selling to the Polish government, Bloomberg reported.

The current probe adds enquiry in new territory as IBM is trying to resolve issues with SEC over other allegations in China and South Korea.

IBM, which is cooperating with the investigations, had agreed in March 2011 to shell out $10m to resolve with the SEC over claims that it bribed officials to win about $54m in government contracts.

The US District Judge Richard Leon has had the case under review and would not accept the deal without a condition that IBM report any future law enforcement or administrative investigations to the court.
