The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled that smartphone makers including HTC, Huawei and ZTE have not infringed on imaging patents owned by Apple by-product FlashPoint Technology.
The three firms were accused of infringing four patents for smartphone cameras in 2012, with one of the patents dropped as the case moved on.
During September 2013, an administrative law judge ruled in a preliminary decision that HTC’s smartphones the Vivid and Droid Incredible 4G LTE had infringed upon a FlashPoint patent, while Huawei and ZTE had been cleared.
However, the reviewed September ruling found no evidence of patent breach by HTC concluding the case, marking the company’s second time patent win against FlashPoint.
In February 2014, the Taiwanese firm resolved all pending proceedings with Finland’s Nokia, over alleged illegal use of its innovations.
