Virtustream has announced that it is working with prime contractor Unisys to migrate the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) Financial and Business Management System (FBMS) to the cloud.
Unisys was recently awarded the first task order under the DOI Foundation Cloud Hosting Services (FCHS) indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts. As a subcontractor to Unisys, Virtustream will host FBMS, on its high-performance, federal enterprise class IaaS cloud.
"Virtustream offers excellent cloud capabilities, including very strong security and an attractive consumption-based pricing model," said Ted Davies, president, Unisys Federal Systems. "Based on Virtustream’s strong commercial experience, we are confident that our solution will meet the needs of the DOI for this mission-critical program."
Virtustream is SAP-certified in both cloud and hosting services and say they have extensive experience in migrating enterprise mission-critical applications to the cloud.
Virtustream also possesses a Virginia-based data centre that is FISMA-certified, which they claim to be essential for federal compliance requirements.
"Given our past SAP cloud migrations of similar size and scope, our team is prepared and excited to move forward on this DOI project," said Rodney Rogers, chairman and chief executive officer at Virtustream. "We are working with Unisys to provide a high-performance, secure cloud environment for the DOI’s business-critical applications."
