UK-based online cash payment solution Ukash has signed a deal with Pick n Pay to make electronic cash vouchers available from its 750 outlets across South Africa.
Ukash said that its vouchers are available from every checkout in Pick n Pay stores across the country. Consumers exchange cash for a Ukash voucher in ZAR10, ZAR50, ZAR100, ZAR200, ZAR500, ZAR1,000 and ZAR1,500 denominations, and receive a receipt with a ready-to-spend, 19-digit secure PIN code. This can be used to pay directly at a number of South African websites and mobile sites which accept Ukash, including retailers such as wantitall.co.za, bidorbuy and social networks mig33 and mibli, according to Ukash.
Mark Chirnside, chief executive officer of Ukash, said: By partnering with one of South Africa’s leading retailers we are increasing the availability of Ukash to consumers wanting to use e-cash. Ukash is quickly establishing itself as a mainstream solution for online payments in South Africa, introducing new consumers to internet commerce and bringing enormous opportunities for growth to retailers.
Warren Marsden, general manager of e-commerce at Pick n Pay, added: With the growth of e-commerce and online retailing, Pick n Pay are keen to meet the demand for customers wanting to use cash to shop online. Ukash is a secure, tested solution and we are confident that it will be successful across our stores.
