The UK government has launched a new app store, called the CloudStore, which it says will ease purchasing of public sector ICT simple and transparent.
The CloudStore will pave way for UK government to buy IT products and services.
Currently, this site is a pilot and it is asking the citizens to improve it with their feedback.
The CloudStore is an online catalogue featuring about 1,700 information and communications services available to the UK public sector, comprising details of each of the suppliers with their products and services, according to the government’s press release.
It has four service genres, infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, software as a service and specialist cloud services such as configuration, management and monitoring, according to the Guardian.
Any procurer from the government can now use this online database to find suppliers that meet their ICT needs and can then create a ‘call-off contract’ to allow them to buy the products or services.
All the services listed on the CloudStore are part of the G-Cloud framework and are immediately available for the public sector to procure and use, it was revealed.
