UK ahead of other countries on online shopping front: report

77% of Britons prefer books, CDs, DVDs and video games online as against 65% globally, says KPMG

KPMG’s survey has revealed that more buyers in the UK are thronging online when compared to shoppers in other countries, according to BBC.

The report reveals that 77% of Britons prefer books, CDs, DVDs and video games online as against 65% globally.

However, UK lags behind other countries in mobile banking. Cloud is also another area where UK was yet to jump onto the online bandwagon as 53% stored their data online compared to 60% consumers globally.

It was also found that majority of shoppers worldwide refer to social networks and online review sites.

KPMG’s European head of technology Tudor Aw was quoted by BBC as saying that from buying goods on their mobile phones to keeping up with friends on social networks, consumers are increasingly reliant on a range of technologies that perform important – yet often overlapping – tasks.

Seventy four per cent of consumers in the UK were likely to shop online for flights and holidays while 60% of consumers shopped online for groceries.
