Twitter has released an Android beta version of the app that reworks the interface for the better.

Boasting a new design and updated functionalities, the new 5.0 version features seven swipe-able tabs rather than four, including new tabs for messages, activity and finding people.

The beta app also features a revamped menu bar, while the redesigned tabs are represented with text rather than icons, providing a more simple look.

Other features include a streamlined sliding pane, allowing quicker access to the tabs and sporing the user’s blurred profile header image as the background. The different tabs would also show the number of unread messages and notifications.

However, some features, including the ‘mark all direct messages as read’, are not added in the beta version, but should be incorporated in the final version.

Twitter has also filed a Form S1 with the US Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) for its planned initial public offering (IPO) issue.

The micro-blogging site has also filed the documents confidentially under special laws of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act of 2012, which enables firms with below $1bn of revenue per year to maintain the financial data secretly until they market the IPO.
