Trusted Computer Solutions (TCS), a developer of cross domain, operating system and network security offerings, has partnered with Cistera Networks, a provider of enterprise application platforms and engines for unified communications, to integrate its automated, operating system lock down tool Security Blanket, with Cistera Convergence Server offering.

TCS said that the Security Blanket hardens Linux and Solaris operating systems in a fraction of the time that it takes to lock them down manually.

The company claimed system administrators can now configure and enhance security at the operating system level to meet the guidelines required by the federal government.

Greg Royal, founder and CEO of Cistera Networks, said: "Security Blanket automates the process of securing the operating system to meet standards which provides significant time savings on each deployment.

"The Cistera convergence Server is a Quality and Management offering that provides Event Notification Alerting, and Quality and Compliancy recording.

Mr Royal said that a number of our government customers require compliance to the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).

He added: "Security Blanket has the STIGs pre-defined within the product, which results in a STIG lockdown being reduced from 30 days to 2 in a typical deployment.

"Integrating Security Blanket will increase our productivity and ensure the highest level of system security for our clients."
