TransMedia launches new Glide OS

Extends file management system beyond local and online desktops to the web

By CBR Staff Writer

TransMedia has launched Glide OS 4.0, a portable and transparent web operating system and application suite that wraps desktop functionality around web content from any online location.

The company said that the Glide OS and application suite component can be added directly to Google chrome, explorer and Firefox web browser. It layers a file management system and productivity application suite on top of search and social networking services that facilitates instant collaboration with web content.

The company claims that Glide’s automated web capture, cross-platform file conversion and synchronisation technology transforms the web into personal hard drive and collaboration platform.

According to TransMedia, Glide provides one search box and a bidirectionally synchronised file management system to access and manage personal files on local desktop, search results and other online content. This makes it possible to access and transfer data between the web and local desktop. Users can capture text, images, audio and video content online and automatically transfer web content to local desktop and automatically publish files from local desktop to the web.

Glide automatically extracts web content to a Microsoft Word 2007, 97, 2003, XP, PDF, Open Office, RTF, or Glide Write Document. By selecting or creating target folder, Glide automatically adds web content to a synced personal or rights-based collaboration folder for offline and online access.

Donald Leka, chairman and CEO of TransMedia, said: To access Glide, there is no required web destination and there are no restrictions on what browsers can be used or what sites can be visited.

The all new Glide extends your file management system beyond your local and online desktops to the web itself – beyond the limitation of a particular device, browser or even a specific search portal, social network or other website.
