Touchnote postcard app hacked, user data breached

News: Usernames and email addresses have reportedly been stolen.

By CBR Staff Writer

UK online photo postcard service Touchnote has suffered a data breach in which hackers have reportedly accessed customer data.

An unauthorised party accessed usernames, email addresses, postal addresses and order history. The company recommended users to change their passwords.

The number of victims are unknown at this time. The UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit is assisting Touchnote with the investigation.

An estimated 4 million postcards have been created and sent through the app since its launch in 2008. The app is pre-installed on various handsets.

Touchnote allows users to create and send a postcard or greeting card from their computer or mobile phone using own photos.

Once the user selects an image and adds a message, the app prints and posts them. The app is available on the iPhone, iPad, Android mobiles and tablets.

The breach on Touchnote follows the recent cyber attack on TalkTalk, in which banking details of more than 20,000 customers, including private details of more than four million, were hacked.
