Time Warner Cable, a provider of video, high-speed data and voice services in the US, has agreed to acquire NaviSite, a provider of application services, enterprise hosting, and managed cloud services for approximately $230m.
Through this acquisition, Time Warner Cable will gain presence in the managed services market with NaviSite’s more than 1,200 customers.
In addition, Time Warner Cable will gain access to NaviSite’s operational expertise and enterprise-class infrastructure to meet the growing demand for managed services offerings from Time Warner Cable’s existing and future SMB customers.
NaviSite employs approximately 570 people worldwide and operates ten data centres in the US and the UK, including two SAS 70 Type II certified data centres, and network operations centres in Gurgaon, India and Andover, Massachusetts.
Time Warner Cable chairman and CEO Glenn Britt said NaviSite provides them with a managed services business and a new managed cloud platform representing significant new growth opportunities.
"We expect to build upon NaviSite’s enterprise-class offerings, and their operational capabilities, infrastructure and expertise to create a managed services offering for small and medium sized businesses," Britt said.
