Tier 3, a provider of managed services and on-demand infrastructure offerings, said that it will provide content delivery services from Limelight Networks to its global customer base.

The company said that the agreement will enable it to provide its customers with access to Limelight’s global content delivery platform, which uses software and a network-based architecture to increase the performance of web sites and media content.

Jared Wray, principal of Tier 3, said: “With the combined forces of Tier 3 and Limelight Networks, our enterprise customers will reap the benefits of flexible, scalable and cost-efficient solutions for their content delivery needs without having to worry about timely access to the network.”

Limelight Networks provides on-demand managed infrastructure offerings that route traffic along a private, fiber-optic network to bypass internet traffic congestion.

According to Tier 3, its virtual servers and web farm will be integrated with the Limelight services including Limelightdeliver, a distribution service that delivers media content; LimelightStream, a live streaming service that delivers media content; LimelightSite, which enhances the performance of web sites including static, dynamic, cacheable and un-cacheable content; and LimelightHD that builds on LimelightDeliver and LimelightStream service suites, leveraging the same network to speed delivery of HD video to customers’ screens.

Adam Wray, VP of alliances at Limelight Networks, said: “The need for consistent, high-performance delivery of rich digital media assets and entire web sites is the first step towards improving the profitability of online businesses. Tier 3 has recognised this and is taking the necessary steps to ensure its customers have a high-quality, scalable solution to handle these needs.”
