Voice-recognition software developer Beyond Verbal Communications has developed a new app, which it claims could read users’ feelings and claimed to have an accuracy rate of 80%.
Dubbed Moodies, the new app works by enabling smartphone users to speak into the phone’s for 20 seconds and then generates an emotional analysis.
Based on so-called layered voice analysis, the new technology pairs a cartoon face with each of the generated analysis and allows users to share the face on social networking sites such as Facebook.
The new application also analyses speech components including timing, energy, frequency and spectral content and then generate data that can then be run through its algorithms, the Wall Street Journal noted.
Beyond Verbal Communications marketing and strategic accounts vice president Dan Emodi said the software is based on more than three years of research.
"Our responsibility is the people we work with, the partners we choose," Emodi said.
Another mobile device dubbed oPhone, unveiled in January, makes odour communication similar to sending text messages.
