Microsoft has removed third-party Snapchat apps from its Windows Phone store, following Snapchat’s recent decision to track down and shut unofficial apps.
Snapchat is not available on Windows OS, with Windows users now not able to download compatible apps to access the messaging service.
Snapchat had previously said that it had "enjoyed some of the ways developers have tried to make Snapchat better."
The self-destructive messaging app maker was later criticised for the data breach that led to hacking of user accounts through third party apps.
The Verge reported that a Microsoft spokesperson had confirmed the removal of apps "following Snapchat’s decision to disable APIs used by third party apps across platforms."
The move by Microsoft will ensure that users do not access the photo messaging service on their phones.
