Google has announced the expansion of its Google Now service, which will start using data from third-party apps.

The feature has started to roll out to Android users with 40 apps integrated directly in the service which, according to Google, is expected to help users with their day-to-day lives by giving helpful information.

The 40 apps include Instacart, Lyft, Pandora, Airbnb, Shazam, eBay and Belly.

Snippets of information from the apps will appear in the form of ‘cards’ or pop-ups which will show up on the home screen of Android smartphones.

Until now, ‘Google Now’ cards only showed updates based on user account data and activity with basic information like traffic, weather, sports team, TV shows and upcoming reservations.

Google director of product management Aparna Chennapragada said: "We’ve teamed up with 30+ developers to bring you these and other new cards, which are rolling out over the next few weeks."

The company also recommended users to update the third party apps and Google app to avail the new feature. The company also announced that it will expand the feature on the service over time.
