It’s been a busy old fortnight here at Team CBR’s secret underground base, so it’s nice to have a few minutes to reflect on one of last week’s highlights – a Russian ball at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

My attendance at such an extravagant dance came about after I recently had the pleasure of chatting to the event’s sponsor, Natalya Kaspersky, the CEO of InfoWatch and co-founders of Kaspersky Lab.

The ball was primarily held in honour of 400 years of the House of Romanov, but Natalya also explained that she hoped that it would help to dispel any negative perceptions of the Russian people.

It was the first time since 1921 that the event had been held at the Royal Albert Hall, and in attendance of this high-society charity event were 60 London-based Russian debutante couples, along with an array of world-class entertainment acts, such as The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and performers from The Bolshoi Ballet. An additional appearance was made by star of Fox UK’s ‘Meet The Russians’ series, Masha Pogrebnyak (wife of Reading FC’s Pavel – and me!
