Thales UK has secured a five-year contract from the Insolvency Service, part of the UK’s Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) to offer secure network connectivity services.

As part of the contract, which is the first contract to be awarded under the Government’s Public Services Network (PSN) Connectivity framework, the company will offer network security at Business Impact Level 3 (IL3).

Thales will supply secure Wide Area Network (WAN) services throughout The Insolvency Service sites, including head office, regional offices and associated data centres and will also handle the shift from current to new network along with the support services.

Thales UK security and consulting business VP, Sam Keayes, said the contract strengthens the company’s position as network and cyber-security service provider for the Government and the country’s critical national infrastructure.

"Securing this contract has given us a good foundation to win future business," Keayes said.

According to the company, PSN has been designed to offer a base for Government information and communications technology (ICT).
