Tejari, an online b2b marketplace, has formed a partnership with Oman-based Excellent Systems, a trading company engaged in IT security, to expand into the East African markets of Uganda and Tanzania.

According to Tejari, this partnership is expected to open doors for companies in Uganda and Tanzania to trade online and access buyers and sellers from emerging markets.

Tejari aims to improve the e-readiness ranking of these countries as it has done in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and China, amongst other countries. This is expected to be accomplished through an increase in transparency and the adoption of e-commerce by SMEs and exporters alike.

Tejari is expected to develop the e-readiness skills of local companies in the region by providing them with appropriate e-commerce training, regardless of the size of the business. Tejari claims that the government and the private sector in Uganda and Tanzania will now have a direct channel to the Middle East.

Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari, said: Our alliance with Excellent Systems with its local partners in both countries will create a powerful platform that aims to provide the much needed link between businesses in East Africa and those in the Middle Eastern region.
