UK internet service provider TalkTalk has unveiled a network-level security service, HomeSafe, for its customers.
The service blocks virus-infected websites and alerts TalkTalk customers about the danger. It also allows parents to prevent minors from accessing adult content.
The company said that HomeSafe blocks malware containing websites by scanning the network traffic. It then creates whitelist or blacklist files, which are deleted every 24 hours.
HomeSafe comes with three features: Virus Alerts, KidsSafe and Homework Time.
The Homework Time option allows parents to block social networking sites and game portals.
TalkTalk commercial director Tristia Clarke said, "This [the service] is especially important now that children are regularly using devices like phones, and not just the main family PC, to access the internet."
TalkTalk has said that all the websites visited by the user has to be scanned, but the company does not store personal details, including IP addresses, of customers.
