Talend, a provider of open source data integration software, has introduced the open source Master Data Management (MDM) offering, which it claims to offer data integration, data quality, master data and data stewardship on a single platform.

The company claims that the MDM technology enables organisations to implement an enterprise-wide master data hub and ensures consistent, uniform control of any master data across the organisation.

According to Talend, the new MDM open source software includes, active data model that allows organisations to model any data domain; domain driven integration that uses data model driven events to drive when and where data is synchronised, augmented or distributed. The graphical tool provides over 400 components and builds integration processes for the master data.

The active data model allows users to validate, resolve and augment master data, offers a data profiling tool and provides components for name and address standardisation, callouts to external standardisation services and augmentation routines, Talend said.

In addition, the new software includes a collaborative interface that enables to a team to collaborate on and manage the process of updating and managing the master data through a lifecycle; and Talend Studio, which provides a single platform for managing the data model, configuring integration, administering data quality and creating stewardship workflows.

Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend, said: “Within the last year, we have seen a landslide of large companies adopting open source technologies to rationalise their IT deployments, as well as smaller organisations finally getting the budgetary means to adopt consistent and optimised data management for the first time. Open source drives innovation and Talend will continue to lead the market with the goal of offering the best solutions to our customers.”
