Though 11% of American adults own a tablet device, with majority of them spending 90 minutes a day, they are against paying for news content, according to a new study by Pew Research.
The study revealed that for tablet users, news is one of the most popular activities. But only 14% of them have paid for news content on their tablets. Nearly 23% said that the pay for a print subscription that includes tablet content. Together they comprise about a third of tablet users, said an AP report.
The study said, "That is a much higher number than previous research has found more broadly of people paying for digital content."
However the study also highlighted that a "large majority" of people who have not paid for news content are "reluctant to do so, even if that was the only way to get news from their favorite sources."
The survey was conducted among 5,014 adults in the US. It found that 21% of the users get their news from apps, 40% from a Web browser, and 31% use both browser and apps.
