The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) has hacked several Android apps of British broadcasting firm BSkyB, including Sky News, Sky Sports and Sky+.

Hackers reportedly replaced the Google Play download pages for the Sky Go, Sky+, Sky WiFi, Sky News, Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports News with their logo and posted a statement saying, Syrian Electronic Army was here.

The company said: "Sky Android apps previously downloaded by Sky customers are unaffected and there is no need to remove them from Android devices."

CNET reported that Sky News Arabia, Sky News Arabia for Tablets, Sky News Weather Channel are Sky’s apps on iOS seem to be unaffected.

BskyB hacking is the latest in the series of attacks launched by the SEA, which supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Earlier this month, the SEA hacked the Financial Times‘ (FT) website and Twitter feeds as well as Twitter and Facebook accounts of satirical US news website, The Onion.

SEA has previously hacked the accounts of other media organisations that include the Associated Press, CBS News, the BBC, Reuters and the Guardian.
