Security and storage software provider Symantec has upgraded its email and content archiving platform Enterprise Vault.
It said Enterprise Vault 8.0 reduces the costs of storing unstructured information including email, file server, and SharePoint content. New features include advanced storage reduction using optimized single instance storage, accelerated e-Discovery, a new getting started wizard, and a common tasks dashboard for administration.
Simon Jelley, senior director of Enterprise Vault product management at Symantec, said: Input from our 10,000-strong customer base helped us see their challenges in storing, managing, and discovering information from many sources including file systems, instant messaging, and SharePoint. With the availability of Enterprise Vault 8.0, customers can achieve complete single instance storage across all of their unstructured information and significantly reduce their storage and discovery costs.
The company also recently announced a collaboration with storage and data management company NetApp to combine NetApp’s archive and compliance product with Symantec Enterprise Vault 8.0 to offer deduplication, improved protection, single instancing, thin provisioning, Snapshot, RAID-DP, and simplified management.
Earlier this month, Symantec has released Symantec Endpoint Encryption 7.0, which provides advanced encryption for desktops, laptops and removable storage devices. Symantec Endpoint Encryption offers a scalable security system that prevents unauthorized access to endpoints by delivering encryption and access control technologies.
