Symantec launches new security offering for SMBs

Protects Windows-based laptops, desktops, and file servers from threats

By CBR Staff Writer

Symantec, a provider of security, storage and systems management solutions, has launched Hosted Endpoint Protection, a new security offering for SMBs.

Symantec said that the new offering will allow customers to protect their Windows-based laptops, desktops, and file servers from threats with simplicity of a cloud-based service.

The Hosted Endpoint Protection is designed to safeguard endpoint systems with a single solution managed from a web-based console offering advanced protection from the endpoint to gateway.

The company said that the new offering leverages Ubiquity, which enables it to harness the anonymous software usage patterns of around 100 million contributing customers to deliver protection against new micro-distributed, mutating threats.

In addition to the new offering , the company has enhanced MessageLabs Web Security Service that will allow organisations to monitor and secure the online activity of distributed workforce.

Symantec Hosted Services SVP Rowan Trollope said, new Hosted Endpoint Protection leverages the company’s SaaS expertise to deliver advanced technologies that help protect customer systems without requiring additional hardware, management software, or dedicated IT staffing.
