Security software provider Symantec has introduced its Instant Messaging Security. cloud (IMS.cloud) with support for Microsoft Lync to help organisations communicate using instant messaging platforms address their security and compliance issues.

To protect organisations from data loss and to log messages for compliance purposes, IMS.cloud scans messages and attachments for malware, blocks malicious URLs, all without the need of additional hardware and software.

In IMS.cloud, all incoming messages, including attachments are scanned for viruses, worms and URLs which may lead to malicious Web sites and all the incoming and outgoing messages are also matched against the organisation’s acceptable use policies, thereby blocking and notifying about malicious or suspicious messages.

Instant Messaging Security. cloud includes an effective content control engine, malware protection, malicious URL detection, automatic message logging and configurable disclaimers and it meets regulatory compliance by logging message transcripts.

In addition, IMS.cloud include a Skeptic Malware Protection that protects organisations from threats by scanning messages and file attachments and it doesn’t need an on-premise hardware, minimal software which allows rapid deployment and low ongoing maintenance.

Symantec. cloud Product Delivery vice-president Tom Powledge said Instant Messaging is becoming a popular tool for internal and external communications in organisations of every size.

"IMS.cloud takes the risk out of IM so that companies can meet user demand for the latest technology while allowing a flexible and collaborative working environment anytime from anywhere," said Powledge.
