Syclo has released its new Agentry mobile enterprise application platform. The company said that with version 5.1, the Agentry platform is gaining enhanced mobile device management capabilities, better server clustering, and enhancements to the development environment, testing tool and on-device application behaviour.

According to the company, some of the new features like mobile device management (MDM), mobile asset management, update and patch management and remote troubleshooting, companies are expected to reduce management costs for large mobile deployments and minimise employee downtime.

The company said that other improvements such as better server clustering render higher performance and business continuity through use of multiple or redundant 64-bit Windows, Unix and Linux servers. Another set of enhancements made on the on-device application include: incorporation of data from on-board peripherals into the mobile application and providing an open client framework for integration with third-party applications like GIS.

Rich Padula, founder and CEO of Syclo, said: “We’re seeing a big shift in how our customers think about mobility. For many, mobile applications are no longer a ‘nice-to-have,’ but a mission-critical tool that must be always available, easy to scale and inexpensive to manage. We’ve done a lot of work lately to ensure Syclo meets these objectives.”

The company stated that its other area of investment is enhancing its development and testing environments to meet the needs of the customers who use Agentry to develop mobile applications. By providing deeper integration with the Eclipse development framework and new ways to build and test business logic, Agentry 5.1 reportedly enhances the entire application development cycle.
