Open-source software company SUSE has joined forces with Chinese telecom giant Huawei to include SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as the operating environment in Huawei’s new SAP HANA Appliance Solution.

The deal will prove beneficial to enterprise customers as the combination of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Huawei’s SAP HANA appliance will boost the speed of real-time data analysis and processing.

According to Huawei, the new solution is a mission-critical server designed for essential workloads including business databases, decision support and business processing.

It is based on RAS 2.0 high-reliability hardware and features kPar hard partition software along with CPU and memory module hot plug, and fault early warning.

SUSE has worked with Huawei to develop cost-based SAP HANA multi-layer high availability scenarios and has provided solutions including system security reinforcement for SAP HANA applications.

SUSE Linux Enterprise kernel page cache module and kernel parameters have also been optimised to improve the performance of SAP HANA running on the Huawei appliance.
