By CBR Staff Writer

Superstorm Sandy, one of the biggest storms ever to hit eastern US, has knocked down some of the New York’s data centres affecting several mdia websites that include Huffington Post, Gawker and Buzzfeed.

Huffington Post said that due to power outages caused by Superstorm Sandy, our own website is experiencing technical difficulties and the it is working trying to get the site back to normal.

"The news team, which has offices around the US and in other countries, is still monitoring everything and will be updating this page with the latest on the storm," Huffington Post said.

"We will also update our social media accounts, including Twitter and Facebook."

All Gawker Media websites, including Gizmodo and Lifehacker, were down and New York data centres, including Internap and Datagram, went down due to the power and flooding problems.

Gawker said: "We’re continuing to work on our servers and will be back online as soon as is possible."

Datagr said that it too was working on correcting the internet outages caused by Hurricane Sandy.
