France-based SunPartner has reportedly been working on a technology to recharge mobile phones through transparent solar panels.

The new technology is expected to increase the battery life of the mobile phone by about 20%.

SunPartner is currently working on Wysips Crystal technology, which the company says will optimise any kind of mobile device, from standard mobile phones and smartphones to tablets and e-books.

Wysips Crystal works with all kinds of screen technology, including MEMMS, bistable, LCD, OLED, and optical screens.

The company said it integrated the technology during the manufacturing process, either below or on top of the touchscreen.

SunPartner noted that the transparent photovoltaic component is connected to an electronic chip that converts the solar energy produced and the energy is then used to recharge the batteries of the mobile device.
