Standard Register, a provider of document and information management offerings, and Zafesoft, a provider of information security offerings, have signed an agreement to explore opportunities for leveraging Zafesoft’s unique content security technology.

The new offering will enable users to maintain electronic records and data digitisation, and minimises risk of loss of information.

Standard Register Healthcare president Brad Cates said the move to electronic records and data digitisation puts much of the sensitive information at risk of loss.

"Zafesoft offers a unique capability for assuring content security, which is vitally important in healthcare where there is serious concern about safeguarding patient information," Cates said.

The companies said that under federal regulations, healthcare organisations can face substantial fines for each loss incident of patient health information (PHI).

Zafesoft’s technology can be used to secure the content in sensitive PHI files, with security that cascades copy and paste iterations and proliferation onto a wide variety of media including hard drives, servers, USBs, CDs and e-mails.
