Spotify releases music app for every occasion

By Amy-Jo Crowley

Digital music streaming service Spotify has added a new music feature to its services that provides a suitable playlist for different activities and moods.

Browse uses data from users’ friends, personalised recommendations and music experts to provide music for every moment including dinner parties and workouts.

Spotify, which acquired music discovery startup Tunigo earlier this year, said it hopes Browse will add a "human touch" to its service.

Gustav Söderström, CPO at Spotify, said: "Our three-dimensional approach now combines the human touch with strong social features and unique technology from over five years of experience. We know music and we’re the first to marry all three aspects in one service, making it easier than ever for users to navigate the treasure trove of content within Spotify."

Browse, which is available for iOS and Android apps, will also include a What’s New tab to help users find the latest releases from artists.
