Sourcefire unveils new Virtual 3D partner program

To provide cloud computing companies and virtual OEMs with virtual security products

Sourcefire has announced a new Virtual 3D partner program to provide cloud computing companies and OEMs to leverage the new Virtual 3D Sensor and Virtual Defense Center to improve customer protection.

Sourcefire claims that the Virtual 3D Partner Program is designed to provide hardware, software and services companies with virtual security products to address their customer’s requirements.

The company said that it is currently forging relationships with cloud computing companies to provide with the ability to add a virtual security sensor into their existing cloud, allowing the vendor to monitor and manage the appliance to protect customer information residing in the cloud.

The company also plans to form relationships with virtual OEMs to enable them with additional processing ability to add the company’s security capabilities; and with traditional channel partners to allow them to add a Sourcefire virtual security appliance, pre-loaded onto an existing server from other vendors.

According to Sourcefire, the Sourcefire Virtual 3D partners can utilise the Virtual 3D Sensor and Virtual Defense Center, which provide users the flexibility to deploy the company’s security products within their virtual environments for protection of both physical and virtual assets. These new virtual appliances can inspect traffic between virtual machines, while allowing them to deploy and manage sensors at remote sites where resource may be limited.

Matt McCormick, vice president of business development at Sourcefire, said: “With the launch of Sourcefire’s new Virtual 3D Sensor and Virtual Defense Center, we are enabling partners to easily provide customers with value-added protection without requiring new hardware investments.”
