Sourcefire, the creator of Snort and a provider of intelligent cybersecurity solutions, has introduced three new Defense Center Awareness Bundles for its Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention System (NGIPS).
The company said the combined offerings provide organisations comprehensive threat protection, securing the perimeter, data centre and cloud.
The three new bundles include contextual awareness for providing insight into networks, applications, behaviours and identities for maximum security; open architecture for enabling users to create custom rules for their environment; and intelligent automation for automating both the critical tasks of impact assessment and IPS tuning.
The Sourcefire NGIPS Awareness Bundles ease purchase and adoption while providing contextual awareness to identify real threats, an open architecture to enable customisation for a customer’s environment and intelligent automation for impact assessment and IPS tuning.
Sourcefire plans to expand its security portfolio to include Next-Generation Firewalls, which will focus on enhancing application identification and control, providing customers more protection through application policy management.
Sourcefire CEO John Burris said as the pioneer in providing application intelligence in IPS solutions, Sourcefire is uniquely positioned to seamlessly add NGFW features to the company’s solution-set, to support large-scale enterprise deployments.
IDC research vice president Charles Kolodgy said the Sourcefire Next-Generation IPS is aware, adaptive and automated, giving users visibility into what is running on their networks, what is vulnerable and what could be under attack.
