UK-based IT security company Sophos Group has acquired the network security products supplier Cyberoam Technologies.
The transaction expands Sophos’ network security portfolio with the integration of Cyberoam’s Unified Threat Management (UTM), firewall and network security expertise.
Sophos chief executive officer Kris Hagerman said Cyberoam has built a strong reputation as an aggressive and nimble innovator in the network security market and has a ‘channel-first’ approach and reputation for delivering service and support.
"The acquisition expands and accelerates our network security roadmap to grow our presence in UTM, advanced threat protection, wireless and next generation firewall – some of the fastest growing markets in all of IT," Hagerman added.
With the acquisition for an undisclosed amount, Sophos will also expand its position in network security segment: a strategic growth area for the company.
Cyberoam CEO Hemal Patel said the company is growing its network security businesses substantially faster than the market, and joining forces allows it to drive even greater innovation and value.
"Our global footprint, commitment to the channel and complete security portfolio are clear competitive differentiators," Patel added.
"We’re pleased to join the Sophos team."
Following the integration, Sophos will have over 2,200 employees of which more than 600 will be working on the network security technology and over 350 in R&D.
