Sony is set to unveil its new flagship Xperia smartphone in early September, it is claimed.
The Xperia Honami will be released on September 4, just prior to the beginning of the IFA consumer show in Berlin, according to reports.
The new smartphone is being developed with the codename of Honami, which is a Japanese hot spring.
The device is expected to feature X-Reality picture-enhancement chips that were developed for the company’s Bravia TVs along with the sensors designed for Sony’s Cybershot cameras.
Expected to be powered by the 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM, the new mobile would come with a 5-inch full-HD display.
Sony’s flagship smartphone is expected to sport a 20MP Exmor RS rear camera with Sony G-lens and BIONZ image processor as well as a 2MP front facing camera, while offering 16GB internal storage memory and a 3000mAh battery.
The device is expected to to run on Google’s Android 4.2 version of the Jelly Bean operating system and will be dust and water resistant.
